About YDO

Fighting Manipur's drug crisis — one life at a time

The Youth Development Organisation operates IRCA Jiribam and ODIC Bisnupur — two Government-supported centres providing de-addiction, outreach, counseling, and rehabilitation to youth across Manipur.

Our Story

Born from a community in crisis

Manipur has long faced one of the highest rates of opioid dependency in India. Decades of drug trafficking routes passing through the region have left entire communities — and especially young people — devastated. Families broken. Futures lost.

YDO was founded by a group of local educators, counselors, and community volunteers who refused to accept this as inevitable. Starting with a small outreach effort in Jiribam, they began identifying youth struggling with addiction and connecting them to care.

Today, YDO operates two Government-recognised centres under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR): the IRCA in Jiribam (residential rehabilitation) and the ODIC in Bisnupur (community outreach).

Over 2,000 individuals have been supported through our programs. Our philosophy has never changed: every person who comes through our doors deserves to be treated with dignity, and every family that reaches out deserves hope.

Our Mission

To rehabilitate youth affected by substance abuse in Manipur, restore families, and rebuild lives through compassionate, evidence-based, and community-centered care.

Our Vision

A Manipur where no young person loses their life, their family, or their future to drug addiction — and where those who do struggle can always find a path back.

What We Believe

Our Core Values

🤝

Non-Judgmental Care

We meet every individual — regardless of their history — with dignity, compassion, and zero stigma.

🌱

Holistic Recovery

True healing includes the body, mind, relationships, and livelihood. We address all of these together.

👨‍👩‍👧

Family-Centered

Addiction affects the whole family. Our programs involve and heal families, not just the individual.

📊

Evidence-Based

We follow clinical best practices and Ministry of Social Justice guidelines in every aspect of our service.

🏘️

Community Rooted

Our staff live in the communities they serve. Trust is built through presence, not just programs.

🔁

Long-Term Follow-Up

Recovery is a journey. We stay connected with participants through aftercare and reintegration support.
